정말 욕은안할려하지만 진짜 요즘 인생뭐같네…
계속 비만 오는것 같아도 언젠간 비가 개이고 햇빛이 비추는 날도 있겠지 하며 엄마가 위로해주는데.. 자꾸비만 오다 홍수가 나면 어떡하나 걱정된다. 아주 마음이 너무 심란하고 머리가 너무 복잡해 너무 죽겠다.

Anything is possible, if we put our minds to it. - The National Geographic Channel, a team of scientists, engineers and two world class balloon pilots successfully launched a house measuring 16 feet by 16 feet and 18 feet high, using 300 eight-foot coloured weather balloons from a private airfield east of Los Angeles. The launch – inspired by the Disney/Pixar film “Up” – set a new world record for the largest balloon cluster flight ever attempted. The house and balloons measured more than 10 stories high and reached an altitude of over 10,000 feet, flying for approximately one hour. 뉴욕이란곳은.. 참 한마디로 표현하기는 힘든듯 싶다. 다들 흔히 말하기로는 잠들지 않는 도시 (the city that never sleeps) 아님 가장 멋진 도시 (the most wonderful city in the world) 라고들 말하는데… 직접 뉴욕에서 벌써 4년째 살면서, 그런 단 한 문장으론 표현할수없는 이 도시의 너무 좋고 나쁨을 배워 나가고 있다. 물론 대학생이란 신분과 형편으론 감당할수 없는 너무나 비싼 곳인것은 확실하게 4년째 증명해나가고 있지만, 또 그만큼 대학생 신분이기에 밖에 얻을수 있는 혜택을 많이 누린것도 사실이다.
프로젝트를 마무리 하느라 세벽늦게까지 깨어있다 금방 잠들었는데 밖에 사이렌 소리에 어쩔수없이 깰땐 잠들지 않는 도시가 원망스럽기만 하지만, 시험공부하다 세벽 4시에 출출해서 중국음식을 배달시켜 먹을땐 도시가 잠들지 않아 너무 행복하다. 일갈때 쫌 늦어서 서둘러야하는데, 택시를 타면 너무 막히고, 전철은 사람들이 너무 가득 붐비고 할땐 짜증나 죽을것 같지만, 또 커피숍에 혼자 앉아 밖에 지나가는 그 수많은 사람들 구경할땐 시간가는줄 모르게 재미가 쏠쏠하다. 아주 비위생적인 subway 전철의 바퀴벌래들과 쥐가 있는 반면, 너무나 화려하고 우아한 upper east side쪽에있으면 ‘뉴요커’가 된 내가 가끔 자랑스럽기도 하다. 그외에 수많은 맛집들, 어두운 밤을 빛내주는 Times Square, 뮤지컬 매니아인 내가 즐길수 있는 브로드웨이, 눈을 높여가며 매일 할수있는 쇼핑, 어디든 차를 타지않고 걸어다닐수 있는 쏠쏠함, 등등…
나는 복이 많아 부모님 덕에 NYU란 부유하고 멋진 대학을 다녀서 뉴욕이란 곳을 내 젊은 이십대에 경험하고 느껴볼수있음에 너무 감사하다. 언제까지 계속 있을진 모르겠지만, 어느 다른 곳도 뉴욕같진 않을듯 싶다. The city Frank Sinatra redeemed good enough that he was compelled to sing it twice- New York, New York.
